Commercial Building permits in the City of Windsor got off to a great start in January with a giant leap of more than 3 million dollars compared to January 2012. The commercial permits increased in January 2012 from $715,750 a year ago to $6.7 million, government and institutional leaped from $72,450 to $1.1 million and industrial increased from $80,500 to $170,000. Residential fell from $7 million to $3.3 million
The major projects listed for January included construction of an addition to the Windsor Essex County Children’s Aid Society office at 1671 Riverside Dr. E. for $3.5 million, renovations to an existing commercial centre at 4510 Rhodes Dr. for $1.1 million, renovations to a diagnostic imaging centre at Hotel-Dieu Grace Hospital for $422,000 and renovations to a Windsor Vision Centre office at 4072 Walker Rd. for $300,000.
